HISTORY OF THE EFERM MUSEUM OF AVOIDANCE

  • The History of The E.F.E.R.M Museum of Avoidance is very distinctive. Its first location, in Portsmouth VA, is near one of the oldest shopping centers in Portsmouth.

  • Since the Museum opened hundreds of people have toured and participated in the Community Education Exchange Discussion or C.E.E.D. to talk about solutions to community issues to prevent, intervene and disrupt prison pipelines and support ex-felons as they transition into communities.

  • To bring an end to the tragedies of incarceration we must address the causes because no one is born with a criminal mindset. The “Breaking Out of the Box” tour shows the causes that can lead to the manufacturing of the criminal mind in America. Taking you into over 100 years of prison history and causes that drive incarceration practices that have intentionally been ignored as our country’s agenda has developed.

  • The Museum brings to life chapters of one of the training courses of the Certified Development Coaching Group, LLC or CDCG. Visitors experience narratives that will make you think critically about economics of prison. After touring The E.F.E.R.M. we hope you will be more aware of the business and profitability of prison and how to AVOID incarceration tragedies.
